Kazbegi
Gergeti Trinity Church alone on its ridge at 2,170 metres, with Mount Kazbek behind it. Three hours from Tbilisi up the Georgian Military Highway, and worth every one.
Kakheti
The wine region east of Tbilisi. Sighnaghi on its hilltop above the Alazani valley, and family cellars still fermenting in buried clay qvevri — a method UNESCO lists in its own right.
