The Tian Shan
The range rises straight out of the southern edge of the city — Medeu’s high-altitude skating rink and the Shymbulak slopes are both inside an hour of the centre.
Kolsay & Kaiyndy
Three lakes stacked up a forested valley near Saty village, and nearby Kaiyndy — where an earthquake flooded a spruce forest and the bare trunks still stand upright out of the water.
